Meet Rachael

Rachael Shoffner, PT

I believe we are here on this earth to live. To summon the spirit of Thoreau: “I do not wish to live what is not life, living is so dear.” My passion is to help others find that spirit of living again, to feel the vibrancy of life flowing in new ways through their body and spirit.

After obtaining my BA in English from Appalachian State University, I began working for the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Working for Outward Bound, an organization that focuses on helping people discover their own personal strength and potential, became a pivotal experience in my life and ultimately led me towards a passionate career as a physical therapist focused on Resilience.

The past 14 years of my Physical Therapy career have been spent honing my knowledge, skills, strengths, and compassion. I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2009 and have taken numerous continuing ed courses in manual therapy, oncology, and lymphedema every year since. I am a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, a PORI certified Oncologic Specialist, and am currently working on obtaining my Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Certification.

I am married to my best friend and love, my husband Michael, whose unfailing support and encouragement is a daily reminder of how we all need and crave compassion as humans in this world. We have an amazing daughter, Zoe, who teaches us daily the importance of curiosity, hope, adventure, tenacity, grace, and, oh yes, compassion.
